2015 MAY-LEO CHALLENGE

It’s time again to refocus your efforts on nutrition and get lean, mean and ready for summer! The 2015 May-leo Challenge is a 30 day nutrition and lifestyle challenge for CrossFitters and their friends and families. For the month of May we invite you to join us and focus on eating Paleo, exercising, making new friends, and getting awesome results from your efforts. DETAILS

DATES:  May 1 – May 31, 2015

GOAL:  Commit to 30 days improving overall health and fitness through diet and exercise, leading to a sustainable lifestyle balance that will provide results for a lifetime.

COST: The cost to participate in the challenge at BMCF is $75, which includes:

  • 30-day supply of PurePharma 3 vitamins ($68.90 value)
  • Pre/Post Challenge Measurements and Photos (photos not mandatory)
  • Feedback and help from BMCF Coaches throughout challenge

 

RULES:

1. Consume a Paleo Diet. This can be as strict as the Whole 30or can be slightly modified to accommodate your lifestyle and needs.

2. Keep a journal of exercise / nutrition / mood for the duration of the challenge.
     To be eligible for the raffle you must show us a completed journal.

3. Take part in pre/post challenge body measurements and photos (optional)

4. Participants are encouraged to take part in Memorial Day Murph (scaled to your ability level)

PRIZES:

Everyone who completes the challenge has a chance to win. At the end of the challenge, when you show us your completed journal, you will be given a raffle ticket that will be put in the drawing for you to win:

  • 1st place: 1-month membership at BMCF
  • 2nd place: Box of PurePharma 3
  • 3rd place: Jump-N-Rope Hybrid Jump Rope

NUTRITION WORKSHOP

Join us at BMCF on Wednesday, April 22 at 6:45pm for a Nutrition Workshop that will help you get the most out of this challenge. The workshop will discuss the nutrition principles of hormonal response to food, macronutrient balance, glycemic load, supplements, and pre- and post-workout nutrition.

CHALLENGE KICKOFF MEETING

The Mayleo Challenge Kick-off Meeting is Saturday, April 25th at 11:00am at BMCF.  This is a mandatory meeting for all participants. Please come to this meeting prepared to take ‘before’ pictures (women in shorts and sport bra, men in shorts), measurements, and weigh in. If you cannot attend this meeting, please schedule an appointment with a coach no later than May 1 to record your data.

CHALLENGE CLOSING PARTY

At the end of the challenge, there will be a Potluck Paleo BBQ on Sunday, May 31 at 4:30pm at Lawrence Heagle Park in Hailey.

ACCOUNTABILITY / CONSULTING SESSIONS

Your BMCF Coaches are available throughout the challenge to check-in on your progress and help you make sure you are doing things correctly.  These sessions are available in 30 min segments, and everyone is encouraged (but not required) to have at least one check-in at some point during the challenge.  Talk to your coach at the gym for more details on setting this up.

THE MURPH CHALLENGE

On Memorial Day 2015 (May 25th), Boulder Mountain CrossFit will be hosting “The Murph Challenge” to honor a national hero, Lieutenant Michael C. Murphy, for giving his life to serve our country.  Register today at http://themurphchallenge.com to get an official t-shirt and support The LT Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

“Murph” is a CrossFit HERO WOD consisting of:

1 mile Run
100 Pullups
200 Pushups
300 Squats
1 mile Run

For time: Partition the pullups, pushups, and squats as needed.  Start and finish with a mile run.  If you’ve got body armor or a twenty pound vest, wear it.

Do not be discouraged if you can’t do the entire workout (not many can).  Anyone can do their own version of Murph.  The idea is to challenge yourself and do a little more a little faster every year.
